  • Please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room for evaluation.

  • Yes. Patients have the option of in-person visits and/or video visits over a HIPAA-compliant video platform. Please select the option you desire from the menu when requesting your appointment with Dr. Cheng.

    For telehealth visits, please check that you have functioning audio and video features on your device prior to registering for a telehealth visit. Appointments cannot take place in moving vehicles for patient’s safety.

    I am only able to see patients physically located in the states of California or Michigan for telehealth visits.

  • We are located at 155 N. Lake Ave. Suite 800, Pasadena, CA 91101. Street parking and an adjacent parking structure designated for the 155 N. Lake Avenue building is available to all patients. Parking will be validated for patients who opt to park in the parking structure.

  • At the initial evaluation, I will obtain information about your current concerns, symptoms, past treatment history (if any), medical history, family history, academic history, occupation, personal life, and substance use history to formulate an assessment and individualized treatment plan.

    I recommend that you bring any previous medical records, particular psychiatric treatment records, to the initial consultation if available.

    You may also be asked to complete release of information forms for any entities that we are coordinating care with or are being asked to release personal health information to such as therapists, family members, friends, schools, or employers.

  • No, I am considered an “out-of-network” provider. As an out-of-network physician, the scope of my practice is not limited by insurance companies and administrators. This structure allows me the necessary time to understand, educate, treat, and follow-up with you and collaborate with your therapist/outside physicians as clinically indicated without the undue influence of a third party.

    I can provide patients with a detailed receipt known as a “superbill” upon request, which can be submitted to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Please consult with your insurance company for any questions prior to your visit.

  • New patient consultation/second opinion evaluations (60 to 90 minutes) — $600 to $900

    • Adult patients - 60 minute evaluation unless otherwise specified by Dr. Cheng

    • Child/adolescent patients - 90 minute evaluations

    Medication follow-up and psychotherapy appointments (50 minutes) - $500

    Medication follow-up appointments (30 minutes) - $300

    Administrative time (completing forms, writing letters, phone consultations outside of designated appointment time) - $100 per 10 minute increment

  • Payment is expected at time of service. You may pay by credit card, which will be kept on file upon scheduling for billing purposes. For alternative forms of payment, please inquire by phone.

  • All cancellations and reschedule requests must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment time with the exception of Monday appointments. A change or cancellation request for an appointment on Monday 8AM, for example, would have to be submitted by the preceding Friday at 8AM. If you do not attend a scheduled appointment or provide less than 24 hours notice, then you will be charged the full customary fee of the missed appointment.

  • Yes. All of a patient’s personal, medical, and financial information is private and kept securely encoded in a HIPAA-compliant electronic medical record system.

    The only exception to patient confidentiality is when there is a serious and imminent risk of danger to a patient themselves or any other individual(s) at which time authorities may have to be notified to transport patient to the hospital for a higher level of care if deemed necessary.

  • I do not provide disability evaluations, custody evaluations, or forensic evaluations.
